Biography

Caroline graduated from the Courtauld Institute of Art (Postgraduate Diploma in the Conservation of Wall Painting) in 2000. Since 2002, whilst based at the CCMC, Caroline has been involved in various local and international projects in areas of research and applied conservation, including a three-month Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development project looking at Spanish colonial church wall paintings on the Island of Bohol in the Philippines (2002) and — in association with Monash University — work on wall early Christian wall painting fragments in Dakhleh Oasis, Egypt (2008).

Caroline is a lecturer and subject co-coordinator at the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation in the School of Historical Studies, lecturing in conservation materials chemistry taught as part of the Masters course and additional sessional lectures on aspects of conservation science and immoveable heritage. Currently Caroline continues to pursue her research interest in the biodeterioration of cultural materials through PhD studies undertaken jointly though the CCMC and the ARC Centre for Excellence in Free Radical Chemistry Biotechnology.
