Biography

Sean graduated from Deakin University in 1984 with a BA in Fine Art. After completing a Postgraduate Diploma of Fine Art at Victorian College of the Arts, he then undertook a Masters by Research in Fine Art, at RMIT University. Sean is currently a Conservation Technician, specialising in frame conservation and Infra-red research. Sean attended Malgorzata Sawicki’s ‘The conservation of Picture Frames course’ at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1998 and a series of workshops by Jonathan Thornton from the Art Conservation Department in Buffalo, New York, and at the Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington, New Zealand. Sean’s particular interest is in applied infra-red research and has continued to study this with the partial support of an Australian Research Council RIEF grant. Sean has exhibited extensively both on an individual basis and in group exhibitions.
