Biography

Thea has a BSc in Conservation of Cultural Materials from the University of Canberra. Thea also has extensive training in computing, with a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems, a MSc in Systems Design for Internet Applications and a PhD from the School of Computing Science, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

In conservation, Thea has worked at the Museum of History, Hong Kong, The British Museum and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK. Previous work experience includes conservation of organic artefacts, in particular ethnographic and historical costumes, ancient Egyptian, Coptic, oriental and medieval textiles and costume mounting. Her particular interests are medieval artefacts and costumes. She has studied pattern cutting, professional sewing techniques and tailoring at the London College of Fashion, UK. She joined the CCMC in 2007 as Textiles Conservator.
