Biography

Briony is a paper conservator and lecturer at the Centre with specialist skills in treating works of art on paper. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art History and History from the University of Melbourne (1995) and graduated from Camberwell College of Arts, London in 1999 with a Masters in Paper Conservation. To complete her studies in London she was awarded grants from the Annie, Jean and Dorothy Lamont Travelling Scholarship, the Queens Trust for Young Australians and The Ian Potter Cultural Trust. From 2000-2002 she worked at Tate in London on a collection of British watercolours and drawings from the 16th - 19th century. She has a particular interest in drawing and printing materials and has carried out research into graphite pencil and 19th century printing inks. Since returning to Australia in 2002 Briony has undertaken contracts at a number of institutions including the State Library of Victoria, the State Library of New South Wales and the National Gallery of Victoria.
