Mr Antoine Wilmering, Getty Foundation Program Officer
The Getty Foundation Program Officer, Mr Antoine Wilmering, recently visited the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation. The Getty Foundation is the Philanthropic arm of the J. Paul Getty Trust. Through its core program areas and special initiatives, the Foundation offers grant support for a diverse range of projects all over the world that strengthen the understanding and preservation of the visual arts. The Centre has developed an ongoing relationship with the Foundation's sister organisation the Getty Conservation Institute, and hosted the 2004 Getty Directors' Retreat for Conservation Education. CCMC Director, Robyn Sloggett, recently attended the Getty Directors' Retreat in Austin, Texas in May 2006. This retreat provided a forum for senior-level educators from around the world for strategic thinking and discussion. It was a valuable exchange of ideas that resulted in a strategic alliance with the Getty Conservation Institute and several other conservation institutes, and a framework for the development of a cohesive delivery model of "blended learning" programs.
