Bohol
The Philippines Collaborative Conservation projects with the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Provincial Government of Bohol
An important part of the Centre's international program is to build long term, mutually supportive partnerships with overseas institutions. Since 1999 the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation has been working with the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Provincial Government of Bohol, to engage the local community in the preservation of cultural heritage according to conservation projects identified in their Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Code. Much of the cultural material is ecclesiastical. The following collaborative projects have been undertaken with support from the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development Program through AusAid:
- Establishing conservation and ongoing management procedures for the nationally significant Baclayon: Libby Melzer 2004.
- An anthropological study of the Eskaya cultural minority group from the island of Bohol, Philippines: Zoe Bomford 2004.
- The preservation and conservation management of mural paintings from the island of Bohol: Caroline Kyi in 2003.
- The development of the implementation of Bohol 21, Angela Kerry in 2000.
A further project undertaken by Nicole Tse, was supported by Asialink:
- Conservation treatment program of four panel paintings at the Immaculate Conception Parish, in Baclayon, 1998.
